Karratha is located 1,535 kilometres north of Perth on the North West Coastal Highway and about three hours drive from Port Hedland. Known for its iron ore industry, Karratha is a rapidly growing town.

It enjoys a warm climate all year round, making it a great spot to escape the colder weather further south.

    1. Jaburara Heritage Trail The Jaburara Heritage Trail is an insightful self guided walking discovery of the traditional inhabitants of the area, the Jaburara Aboriginal Tribe. It also highlights Karratha’s recent history dating back to the 1860s.
  • Natural Attractions (4)
    1. Cleaverville Beach Just 26 kilometres along the coast, north-east from Karratha, is Cleaverville Beach. The turnoff is 19 kilometres from the Karratha Road turnoff and access is via a gravel track.
    2. Hearsons Cove Hearsons Cove is a picturesque inlet on the Burrup Peninsula, and is well known as one of the most beautiful swimming beaches in the region. Take a mask and snorkel to appreciate the interesting view underwater in this calm clear stretch of ocean. Children will enjoy the novelty of collecting shells on this naturally formed shell beach.
    3. Miaree Pool Approximately 30 kilometres south of Karratha on the Coastal Highway, you will find the Maitland River. Just a few hundred metres east of the bridge is a picturesque clear water pool. This pool is a lovely spot for picnics, camping, swimming or just laying around under the wonderful shade trees that grow right on the water's edge. The turn off is about 200 metres north of the bridge.
    4. TV Hill Lookout TV Hill Lookout offers excellent views of Karratha. It is a very easily accessible lookout with no walking required. You can drive right up to the top of the hill in a two wheel drive on a sealed road to enjoy this lovely vantage point.
